Jason Statham says there is a loose idea for Crank 3 but no script yet

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Jason Statham has made a bunch of movies in his career but few can rival the sheer fun of CRANK. Both films are off the wall crazy and the closest thing to an adrenaline rush you can get from a motion picture. With participation in multiple franchises, the CRANK series is one that the actor would be happy to revisit.

There has been talk of a follow-up to CRANK: HIGH VOLTAGE for years but Entertainment Weekly got this update from Statham as they discussed his role in FURIOUS 7.

We’ve been talking for years about Crank 3. The first Crank, for me, was such a great experience. It’s a wacky few weeks that you have with such talented directors [Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor]. There’s no rules when you’re doing the Crank movies. We just keep going: “How are we going to get this off the ground?” They have a loose idea. They haven’t written the script.

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have not directed a film since 2012's GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE but Neveldine's solo effort THE VATICAN TAPES is slated to premiere this year. Their talents are greatly suited to the CRANK films and even if it doesn't set the box office ablaze it is assured to turn a profit.

Here's hoping we get to see Statham return as Chev Chelios and maybe Amy Smart would be willing to strip one more time for us.
