Jason Isaacs is signing up for David Ayers’ FURY, joining an already great cast headlined by Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf. The movie is currently shooting in London where Isaacs will play a fellow officer on Pitt’s team. The World War II set movie has been generating a lot of buzz as Ayer is aiming for the film to “bring tank combat to life in a way that lands with a modern audience”
FURY will mark Brad Pitt‘s second foray into WWII after Quentin Tarantino‘s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS. Ayer has never made a historical film or a war movie before but has cut his directing teeth on the movies HARSH TIMES, STREET KINGS, and END OF WATCH. It is hard to say what we can expect from FURY, but adding a great character actor like Isaacs keeps me intrigued.
Here’s the synopsis for FURY:
Set in the end of World War II in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
I am a big fan of Jason Isaacs. The guy was a great villain in the HARRY POTTER movies as well as in THE PATRIOT. His short-lived NBC series AWAKE showed his range and depth as well. I hope he gets more roles and not just these smaller supporting gigs either. He has voiced Sinestro and Ra’s Al Ghul in DC animated films, so somebody cast him in a live action superhero flick as well!
FURY starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Isaacs, Scott Eastwood, Jon Bernthal, Logan Lerman, and Michael Pena opens on November 14, 2014.
