Jason Blum talks Paranormal Activity 5 and the future of The Purge films

Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions have become synonymous with the horror genre, producing a string of hits over the past several years with many more coming our way soon, including the July 18 release of THE PURGE: ANARCHY. Now Blum has sat down with Total Film to talk the future of THE PURGE franchise as well as revealing that the next film in the successful PARANORMAL ACTIVITY franchise will answer "every possible question" that's still yet to be addressed by the series.

Last month we learned that Paramount had delayed PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5 until 2016, which could be a very good thing for the franchise as it will give the creators time to stop thier game up and deliver something better than a rehash of everything we've seen so far. Blum promises answers for the next installment, sharing…

"You can expect a ton of answers. We had a lot of conversations about the mythology…and there was a decision that a lot of fans were tired of getting only little snippets of information, so we're going to answer almost every possible question that one could have about the mythology in Paranormal Activity."

This should delight fans of the series (yes, I know there are some of you still out there!), but if they answer most, if not all, of the burning questions about the mythology of the films the question remains: would there be a PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 6? Well, if part 5 makes money then you can bet your ass they'll keep making them! Blum addresses how they decided to handle what they will do for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 6, stating…

"I got the room to agree that we would worry about that later."

He adds that the team is aiming to "make a great movie that answers everything, that's really good, and go from there."

Blum also spoke about future installments in THE PURGE franchise, sharing that he hopes that he'll get the chance to produce a third PURGE film, this one potentially a prequel that would deal with the revolutionaries and the first ever Purge.

"If enough people see this [The Purge: Anarchy] we have a lot of ideas for the third movie. I'd like to tell a story about the revolutionaries, I'd like to tell a story about the first Purge. Purge 1 was after 5 years, Purge 2 was after 6 years, so it'd be fun to see the first time the Purge happened. So there's a lot of places we can go with it and I hope we get the chance to do it."
