Things really seem to be picking up steam on Universal's planned reboot of Anne Rice's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. Back in 2014, Josh Boone came aboard the project with designs on writing and directing a new version of the story that might focus more on the second and third books of Rice's The Vampire Chronicles than a strict retelling of INTERVIEW. However, any forward movement on the film has been remarkably quiet until this week.
First, Boone took to Instagram to post the cover sheet of the most recent draft of the script that was turned into the studio in April, brandishing his name as well as his co-writer Jill Killington.
But now it appears he may be taking to social media again to talk about his preferred choice for Lestat…
Does this mean Jared Leto is lined up to become the famed vampire of Anne Rice's novels for Josh Boone? Boone is pretty overt with the Lestat-Leto connection he sees, leading to speculation that Leto is his guy for the role. While it is far from concrete confirmation, it does beg the question of whether or not there is fire to all the smoke Boone is sending up.
