Jared Leto Bloodshot

After briefly putting his stamp on the Joker in SUICIDE SQUAD, Jared Leto may be jumping ship from the DCEU and heading over to Sony for their new Valiant Comics cinematic universe. As reported by Deadline, Leto is currently in talks to star in BLOODSHOT as Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless killing machine whose memories have been erased and whose blood has been infused with nanites.

Valiant Entertainment and Sony Pictures announced a five-picture deal to create a cinematic universe centered around the Valiant characters over two years ago, and one of the first projects announced was BLOODSHOT. At the time it was expected that David Leitch and Chad Stahelski would direct the film, but they later dropped out and Blur Studio's Dave Wilson was tapped to replace the JOHN WICK duo. After being set up by the family and framed for murder, mob killer Angelo Mortalli is forced into Witness Protection. After being betrayed by the FBI agent guarding him, Mortalli is "kidnapped and forcibly subjected to an experimental program in which his body is injected with microscopic computers called nanites. They erase his brain and rebuild it and his body to be a weapon with superhuman strength and healing powers." As I'm more than a little unfamiliar with Valiant Comics and their stable of characters, I'll leave it up to you good folks to decide whether Jared Leto is a good fit for BLOODSHOT.

Also part of this potential Valiant Cinematic Universe will be HARBINGER, which centers on Peter Stanchek, "a psionically-charged “harbinger” with the potential to reshape the course of human history. Respected philanthropist and fellow harbinger Toyo Harada recruits him into the Harbinger Foundation where he begins a long road towards a destiny that will shake the very foundations of the Valiant Universe." It has been previously reported that both HARBINGER and BLOODSHOT are expected to spawn sequels, with the title characters then sharing the screen in HARBINGER WARS, but it's no longer clear just what the current plan is. Jared Leto will next be seen in Denis Villeneuve's BLADE RUNNER 2049 on October 6, 2017.

Sound off below, how would you feel about Jared Leto taking the lead in BLOODSHOT?
