Have you ever seen Tobe Hooper's 1979 film version of SALEM'S LOT? You know that scene in which Danny Glick (Brad Savage) comes to Mark Petrie's (Lance Kerwin) window and asks to be let in? Right now, I can't help but recall that nightmare scenario as I watch this new video of Jared Leto on the set of Sony's MORBIUS. For real, all that's missing from the setup is a fog machine, some old man pajamas, and a leary victim on the other side of a latched window. I don't know about you, but if a friend of mine arrived outside my window, hovering in midair while peering into my soul with glowing yellow eyes, I'd tell them to #@%& right off. Being a vampire's dinner is not how I plan to go out.
While production is still sucking the lifeblood from MORBIUS crew members in Manchester, the MorbiusUpdates Twitter account has shared some new images and video from the set of Sony and director Daniel Espinosa's vampire superhero flick starring Jared Leto as The Living Vampire. In the video, we find Leto wearing what looks like an orange prison jumpsuit, as he levitates above a city street courtesy of some fine wire work. There's also a collection of photos from the set, depicting several rigs meant to aid the films special effects department. While the set photos aren't really worth rising from your grave for, I think it's always cool to get a behind-the-scenes look at how movie magic gets made.

Well how do you like that? I'm over here doing my news thing, when all of the sudden a new batch of photos have been posted, this time giving us a better look at Leto in all of his ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK glory. Leto is definitely on the phone in these photos, making me wonder if he's taking a personal call or perhaps telling Spider-Man that he doens't have to bother showing up for work today … or at all, really, considering that he's not meant to be a part of the film.

Morbius the Living Vampire was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane. The Marvel villain made his first appearance in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man” #101 (circa 1971). According to the Marvel Database, Morbius is afflicted with a “debilitating blood disease and developed an experimental treatment involving vampire bats and electroshocks. Its side effects turned him into a pseudo-vampire who needed to consume blood in order to survive, and gained typical vampire characteristics such as an aversion to sunlight, and the powers of flight, enhanced strength, speed, and healing (a healing factor). His overall appearance changed as well: he gained fangs, his nose flattened to appear more bat-like, and his skin became extremely pale. Additionally, the victims of his bite would turn into living vampires themselves.”
With a script penned by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, MORBIUS stars Jared Leto (BLADE RUNNER 2049, SUICIDE SQUAD), Adria Arjona (EMEREALD CITY, PICIFIC RIM: UPRISING), Matt Smith (DOCTOR WHO, CHARLIE SAYS), Jared Harris (THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, LINCOLN), Al Madrigal (NIGHT SCHOOL, ABOUT A BOY), with Tyrese Gibson (FAST & FURIOUS franchise, TRANSFORMERS).
Sony and Marvel's MORBIUS is scheduled to be invited into theaters on July 31, 2020.
