Jared Leto cruises into Interview with the Vampire remake as our new Lestat?

The remake of INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (which, to be fair, takes elements from many different Anne Rice novels and isn't a direct recreation of the 1994 film) is moving faster than any of us could have imagined even last week. We already know that a script draft has been submitted and now…

Josh Boone, who co-wrote the script with Jill Killington, posted this on Twitter:

Boone, as the screenwriter, obviously isn't the person in charge of casting. But he seems pretty confident that Jared Leto will be the one to step into Tom Cruise's boots as the notorious vampire Lestat. Leto, who will be appearing later this summer as the Joker in DC's SUICIDE SQUAD and is the lead singer of the band 30 Seconds to Mars, has recently received an Oscar for his performance in DALLAS BUYERS CLUB.

If this story is confirmed, this will be Leto's first horror film since AMERICAN PSYCHO back in 2000, but he previously dabbled in the genre with 1998's cheesefest URBAN LEGEND.
