On Wednesday evening, Joker actor Jared Leto participated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly while promoting the new HBO documentary series, THE DEFIANT ONES. Naturally, the conversation took a turn toward the latest DCEU cinematic success, WONDER WOMAN. When asked about what he thought in regard to Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot's box office smash, Leto said, "I saw the film. I loved it. I thought it was incredible. They did such a good job. I watched Wonder Woman as a kid, and I really enjoyed it." After giving his extended-DCEU family such high praise for their efforts, Leto commented on the notion of his Joker one day meeting face-to-painted face with the Amazonian Warrior Princess. Leto responded by saying, "Oh my god, if I was only so lucky."
After talking a bit about his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, his chin-wag with the media outlet reverted back to Warner Bros. and DC's cinematic universe when he was asked if The Joker would be making an appearance in the planned Harley Quinn spinoff GOTHAM CITY SIRENS. Leto responded coyly by saying, "I have no idea. There are a lot of moving parts with that stuff and we'll see what happens next."
Oh, come now, Jared Leto! You're not fooling anyone with that sort of talk. How could you not be a part of that film if your intention is to keep portraying The Joker as a part of the DCEU? Sorry, I was having an "Old Man Yells at Cloud" moment, there. In all seriousness, it will definitely be interesting to see what pans out once the ball for GOTHAM CITY SIRENS really gets rolling. Who's the purrfect actress to play Catwoman? Who will control Poison Ivy's pheromone scent and sentient plantlife? It's anyone's guess at this point in time, and I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.
Be sure to check out Jared Leto as Neander Wallace when BLADE RUNNER 2049 lands in theaters on October 6th.
