Dreamworks' adaptation of Paula Hawkins' best-selling novel, "The Girl on the Train", is assembling quite the cast which already includes Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, and Haley Bennett. Emily Blunt will play a jobless and alcoholic woman named Rachel who spends her daily train ride "fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that she passes." Then, after arriving home covered in blood and unable to remember anything, she realizes that she may have witnessed or have been involved in a crime.
THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN already sounds like a great potential thriller, but the cast is still growing as THR reports that both Chris Evans and Jared Leto are circling roles in the film. Evans would play Tom, Rachel's ex-husband who has married his former mistress, Anna (Rebecca Ferguson's role), but has found himself engaging in yet another affair with a married neighbour (Haley Bennett). Jared Leto would be playing the neighbour's husband, but THR reports that scheduling the two busy actors is proving to be a stumbling block.
THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN will be directed by Tate Taylor (THE HELP) and be released sometime in 2016. Chris Evans recently wrapped CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR which opens on May 6, 2016, while Jared Leto's next will arrive on August 5, 2016 in his highly anticipated portrayal of the Joker in SUICIDE SQUAD.
