Janelle Monae has been making the rounds promoting the second season of the Amazon Prime series, Homecoming, and while making those rounds, the actress also took to Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to premiere a brand new trailer for the horror film, ANTEBELLUM.
The trailers that have been released so far have been decidedly vague and this new one isn't really any different. The trailer presents a series of images that give you some impression of what the film might be about but a lot of the details still remain a mystery. The running theme that runs through the trailer is "take back your life" which is what Monae's character Veronica Henley may have to do when she finds herself trapped in a nightmarish reality that takes her to the past.
ANTEBELLUM was originally set for release back in April but the film was pulled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. A couple of weeks ago a new date of August 21, 2020, was announced and the new trailer confirms the new release date. Directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, and produced by the people that thrilled audiences with GET OUT & US, ANTEBELLUM also stars Marque Richardson, Eric Lange, Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Tongayi Chirisa, Gabourey Sidibe, Robert Aramayo, Lily Cowles & Jena Malone.
