Jane Goldman says that Kingsman 2 will be even crazier than the first

Although not everyone was a fan, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE was a heck of a ride and one of the most purely entertaining movies I've watched in the past few years. I've rewatched the flick several times since its release and it never fails to deliver a good time. Following up a film like that with a sequel is always a risky proposition as capturing that magic sometimes proves to be a difficult challenge. With much of the same cast and crew (plus some great new additions) returning for KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE, I've got high hopes that they're up to the task. Jane Goldman, who co-wrote both KINGSMAN movies with Matthew Vaughn, isn't about to give anything away but she did tell Collider that she believes the sequel will be even crazier than the first.

It’s more crazy than the first one, if such thing is possible, it’s pretty crazy…We’re very fortunate to have Julianne Moore playing the villain, and she’s incredible…I think that people who enjoyed the first one won’t be disappointed. It’s not about trying to do something more shocking, or more out there, it’s about hopefully bringing that freshness and surprise to action scenes, where they don’t go in the direction you think they’re gonna go in.

Production on KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE wrapped up just last month and the sequel will see Eggsy (Taron Egerton), Merlin (Mark Strong) and Roxy (Sophie Cookson) traveling to the United States to join forces with the Statesman, their U.S. counterpart, in order to stop Poppy (Julianne Moore), an evil American mastermind. The sequel also stars Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Vinnie Jones, Elton John, Edward Holcroft, Samantha Womack and, somehow, Colin Firth. KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE will hit theaters on June 16, 2017.
