Jamie Lee Curtis hasn’t heard anything about another Halloween sequel

This could probably be considered a SPOILER article if you haven't seen the latest HALLOWEEN sequel yet, so if you're trying to avoid even the smallest spoilers you might not want to read beyond this paragraph. Maybe click over to Amazon and pre-order a copy of the film.

If you're reading this paragraph, you either know or don't mind knowing that original HALLOWEEN heroine Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) makes it out of her 40th anniversary rematch with slasher Michael Myers alive, leaving the door wide open for her to come back in another sequel.

Even though the new HALLOWEEN has been a massive success, making over $250 million worldwide on a budget of $10 million, and even though director David Gordon Green and his co-writer Danny McBride have been very open about the fact that they have a sequel story in mind, one person who is still completely in the dark about any possibilities of a sequel is Jamie Lee Curtis.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Curtis said,

I have no idea at this point, today, I have no idea. I would make an assumption that, if David Gordon Green has a story to tell, that the people involved with the movie would encourage him to tell it. [Laughs] I haven’t been told whether or not he has a story to tell and whether or not he would include Laurie Strode in the telling. Really, time will tell. I know David is a busy guy."

Curtis adds that working on the new film was "an extraordinary experience" and if she was asked to return for a sequel she would be "happy to do it".

David was a fantastic director, writer, but obviously this 2018, 40th anniversary, was Laurie’s story, and obviously there are now other people’s stories that would need to get told. But Laurie’s story was told beautifully this year, and I would have no way of knowing how they would incorporate her in the future."

While we wait to hear news on a sequel and how it might involve Curtis, the new HALLOWEEN is set to receive a Digital release on December 28th, which is also when it will be available for viewing through the streaming platform Movies Anywhere. A Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and VOD release will follow on January 15th.

Later that week, Curtis will be seen in the political thriller AN ACCEPTABLE LOSS, which is getting a theatrical and VOD release on January 18th.

Curtis's HALLOWEEN 2018 co-stars include Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Will Patton as Frank Hawkins, Virginia Gardner as Allyson's friend Vicky, Miles Robbins as Vicky's boyfriend Dave, Dylan Arnold as Cameron Elam, Drew Scheid as Oscar, Toby Huss as Ray, Jefferson Hall as Aaron Korey, Rhian Rees as Dana Haines, Omar J. Dorsey as Sheriff Barker, Rob Niter as Deputy Sheriff Walker, Jibrail Nantambu as Julian, Haluk Bilginer as Dr. Ranbir Sartain, Nick McKeever as Deputy Keeve, and Diva Tyler as a caretaker, with James Jude Courtney (and, for one scene, original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle) as Michael Myers.
