One of the original scream queens, Jamie Lee Curtis, may be headed to television to reunite with her HALLOWEEN H20 director Steve Miner for a new horror-themed project set up at…ABC Family? Okay…that doesn't sound like the place for a horror project, but there is no denying that this sounds like something genre fans would dig. Deadline is reporting that ABC Family has closed a deal for a high-profile horror spec script by writer Jeff Dixon, which has Curtis attached to star and Miner set to direct and executive produce if the project goes to pilot.
Titled "The Final Girls", the drama revolves around…
…a group of girls who have, in essence, survived their own personal horror stories and are brought together by a mysterious older woman (Curtis) to channel the stress and scars of their experience for some greater good.
Horror launched Curtis’ feature career with the HALLOWEEN movies, starting with the original 1978 franchise-starter HALLOWEEN, followed up by HALLOWEEN 2 and seeing her return to the series many years later for HALLOWEEN H20, helmed by Miner, and finally appearing briefly in HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION (although I like to forget that one even exists). Miner also helmed the second and third installment of another popular horror movie franchise, FRIDAY THE 13th.
While there is no green light yet for the project, Deadline hears it is being put on a fast track. Sounds interesting enough, eh?
