One of the many Robin Hood projects in the pipeline just made an addition to its cast of merry men as Deadline reports that Jamie Foxx (DJANGO UNCHAINED) has joined the cast of ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS as Little John. The outlet claims that Foxx's take on the character will be a "battle-hardened but war-weary veteran of The Crusades who starts out distrustful of Robin Hood (they fought on opposite sides), and then warms to the young hero in the gritty revisionist take on the legend."
If you couldn't tell by the title, ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS will explore the origins of the famed outlaw (haven't we already seen that before? Several times?) as he returns home from the Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest has been overrun by corruption and evil. Taron Egerton (KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE) will star as Robin Hood himself alongside Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, and production will kick off once Egerton wraps on the KINGMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE sequel. Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) is set to direct the film for Lionsgate from a script by Joby Harold (KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE: KING ARTHUR) and if you weren't already getting the "dark and gritty" vibe, the film is apparently being compared to THE DARK KNIGHT. Fart.
