James Wan’s secret horror movie gets title and lead actor

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As we all know good and well, THE CONJURING and INSIDIOUS director James Wan has a new horror movie in the works. It's all set to star ANNABELLE actress Annabelle Wallis and today we're hearing that not only does the movie have a (tentative) title but it has snagged its lead actor.

The film is evidently going by the title SILVERCUP and British actor George Young (see above) has landed the male lead role opposite Wallis.

As you can imagine, plot details are currently being kept under wraps. But that said, Wan has said that he intends for the film to be a "hard-R thriller" with "old school, practical effects." Wan will co-write the script with THE NUN actress Ingrid Bisu who got engaged to Wan back in June.

On top of co-writing and directing this New Line horror movie, Wan will also produce the film through his Atomic Monster banner with Michael Clear. The film is being independently financed through Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, who will retain distribution rights in China. The plan is for Wan to shoot the film in the fall in Los Angeles and then move into pre-production on AQUAMAN 2 in 2020.

Meanwhile, the last horror movie that Wan directed was back in 2016 with THE CONJURING 2 starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson.

That flick centered on:

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren coming out of a self-imposed sabbatical to travel to Enfield, a borough in north London in 1977. There, they meet Peggy Hodgson, an overwhelmed single mother of four who tells the couple that something evil is in her home. Ed and Lorraine believe her story when the youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession. As the Warrens try to help the besieged girl, they become the next targets of the malicious spirit.

While we can only speculate what this new James Wan-directed horror movie will be, I don't think it matters much one way or the other considering we'll all be there no matter what the, you know, actual content of the flick entails. How excited are YOU to hear that James Wan's new horror movie begins shooting this fall?
