Saw Cary Elwes James Wan

Last week, we learned that SAW / THE CONJURING director James Wan is planning to take some time between making AQUAMAN movies to direct another horror film. The only details given in the announcement of this horror project were that Wan has written the screenplay with his fiancée / THE NUN cast member Ingrid Bisu, and that filming is going to take place in Los Angeles this fall.

Over the weekend, Wan took to his social media accounts to tease out some more details on what he's working on. His Facebook post was deleted for some reason, but his Instagram post is still online and is embedded below.

Wan wrote:

There’s been a bit of speculation as to what my next project is… all I’ll say is, I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets. That’s all I’ll say for now."

With this message he included a handful of images showing what he described as "interesting things you see whilst location scouting."

I'd rather see Wan ditch AQUAMAN 2 in favor of directing THE CONJURING 3, but he has already handed that one over to THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA's Michael Chaves. So it's good to hear that he's still going to make another horror movie before he returns to the ocean, and he has said all the right things to get me excited to see what this is going to be. "Hard-R", "original horror", "old school, practical effects"… Sounds promising to me.
