Actor Jake Abel is probably best known for the role he played in the fourth and fifth seasons of Supernatural, a character whose existence was so unexpected that his debut episode was jokingly titled "Jump the Shark". Now he has signed on to appear in another genre project, taking a role in the mysterious horror film director James Wan is about to start filming.
This film is going by the working title SILVERCUP, and Wan crafted the story with his fiancée / THE NUN cast member Ingrid Bisu. It's not clear yet who has written the screenplay, or even what the movie will be about.
Abel joins a cast that already includes George Young of the CW show Containment and Annabelle Wallis of ANNABELLE and THE MUMMY.
Wan has described SILVERCUP as a "hard-R thriller" with "old school, practical effects." He's producing the film through his company Atomic Monster with Michael Clear. It's being independently financed by Starlight Media and Midas Innovation. Midas holds the distribution rights in China, while New Line Cinema will handle distribution everywhere else.
SILVERCUP will begin filming in September. Once this is wrapped, Wan will move directly into prepping AQUAMAN 2 in early 2020.
