Marvel seeks to create films that stand on their own two feet while painting a much broader picture in preparation for its Avengers flicks. While introductions to S.H.I.E.L.D. and the shoehorning of certain Avengers elements didn’t quite fit early on, it looks as though they have now found a happy balance between the focus on the film at hand and planting the seeds for future endeavors. One such seed is the idea of a sentient army of Iron Men established in IRON MAN 3. Given that Stark doesn’t have to be in the suit anymore, why would he even bother? AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON looks to answer that question as Stark’s solution for world peace via iron soldiers backfires, and the menace known as Ultron is born.
Here’s James Spader talking about the character and Comic Con:
While details on his villainous role are light, Spader does reveal that Ultron will stand eight feet tall. At that height, the character will easily tower over those who would oppose him, with the exception of a Hulked-out Bruce Banner. Given that Ultron was created by Stark and has the ability to evolve over the course of the film, there’s no telling what size he may start out as and how the final iteration will stack up against our heroes. With the updated synopsis that’s making the rounds, one can’t help but feel that a trailer won’t be too far behind that’ll show us this titan in action.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will begin on May 1, 2015.
