For those of you who are all about the Con, the whole Con and nothing but the Con, you’re all too familiar with Dragon Con that went on this past weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. There were a lot of cool costumes and people in attendance and that includes GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY director James Gunn and his brother Sean. While we have a three-year wait until Star Lord and Co. return to the silver screen, the story is being plotted as we speak and Gunn shared a few tidbits of information about it.
With all the talk about female superheroes taking a large role in the Marvel-verse, someone asked if that would be the case with GUARDIANS 2, and if perhaps someone like Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) might be joining up with the Guardians. Gunn said that as of now Peter Quill would be the only earthling that would be focused on, although there are a lot of other women in the Guardians galaxy that he could bring into the fold. However, he did feel that Ms. Marvel would be showing up sooner, rather than later, as far as Marvel movies go.
James Gunn also discussed the back-and-forth he had with Disney regarding what he could get away with, and that one of the losing battles was that of Stan Lee‘s original cameo. If Gunn had his way, Groot would come upon Lee in the Collector’s exhibit, at which point Stan would give him the finger. Given how awesomely sweet Stan is, a part of me would have really loved to have seen that happen. Regardless, there’s always Lee’s cameo in the next installment of Guardians!
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 is aiming for a July 28, 2017 release.
