Unless you've seen living under a rock the size of the Marvel Universe, you'd know that Marvel dropped a brand-new CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR trailer this morning which concluded with our first ever look at Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Cue the debates and obsessions over every detail about our newest incarnation of the web-slinger. One person who seems more than sold by Tom Holland as Spider-Man is GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY director James Gunn, who took to Twitter when the trailer dropped to give Holland a glowing review.
Gunn isn't just basing this on that short snippet of footage, like most of the Marvel directors currently working on a project, he's already seen the entire film. We still don't know exactly how much of a presence our new Spider-Man will have in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, but apparently it's enough to leave a lasting impression with James Gunn. Spider-Man will have his chance to shine (again) when his own solo-film debuts on July 7, 2017. The as-yet-untitled SPIDER-MAN film will be directed by Jon Watts (COP CAR) and stars, at the moment, Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, and Zendaya as a character named Michelle who will have a bigger part to play in future installments.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
Even though we haven't seen much yet, what do you think of our new Spider-Man?
