Say what you will about James Franco as a producer, but he finds the strangest, most intriguing properties to cover. His latest project is a remake of the awesomely titled TV movie MOTHER, MAY I SLEEP WITH DANGER?, the Tori Spelling cult thriller from 1996. He will be executive producing the project for Lifetime, who recently also surprised audiences with the supremely weird Kristen Wiig/Will Ferrell vehicle A DEADLY ADOPTION.
Here's the plot of the original film:
Laurel has the boyfriend of her dreams, Kevin. He can and will do anything for her. He is totally devoted to her but the downside is that he never leave her alone. When she tries to get some distance he responds with aggressiveness. It finally dawns on Laurel that he is not good for her. Laurel's mother Jessica has already started to suspect that something is wrong with his background.
James Franco provided the story for the script penned by Amber Coney. The film will be directed by Melanie Aitkenhead (ACTORS ANONYMOUS). More on this story as it breaks!
