James Cameron is one busy guy. When he's not traveling to the deepest parts of the ocean and making endless AVATAR sequels, the man likes to kick back and relax by writing and producing such films as ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL and the upcoming direct sequel to TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY from director Tim Miller. And speaking of revisiting THE TERMINATOR, does Cameron have any plans to revisit any of his other hits…
Such as ALIENS?
Well, last night Cameron was on the red carpet talking about ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL and a reporter asked Cameron if "… after [director Tim Miller is done with the Terminator reboot] can you give Neill Blomkamp a call about Aliens, please?" To which Cameron quickly responded:
"I'm working on that, yeah."
Hell, yeah, right?! Holy shite, I hope this happens!
Now I acknowledge that this might seem like a lot – but maybe Blomkamp's ALIEN 5 isn't as dead as we all thought? Maybe Cameron is stepping up to help him make it a reality. MAYBE… I guess we'll see… You can watch the whole video HERE if you want. The bit about ALIENS is at the very end. After looking that over, make sure to hit us up and let us know how excited you would be to see James Cameron return to the world of ALIEN below!
ALIENS synopsis:
After floating in space for 57 years, Lt. Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) shuttle is found by a deep space salvage team. Upon arriving at LV-426, the marines find only one survivor, a nine-year-old girl named Newt (Carrie Henn). But even these battle-hardened marines with all the latest weaponry are no match for the hundreds of aliens that have invaded the colony.
ALIENS was directed by James Cameron from a screenplay he wrote himself based on a story he came up with along with David Giler and Walter Hill based on characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Gale Anne Hurd produced and the film starred Sigourney Weaver Carrie Henn, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, and Bill Paxton.
