We may still be waiting for TRUE LIES to be released on Blu-ray, but it's entirely possible that a TV reboot of the James Cameron flick may be the first out of the gate. Per THR, Twentieth Century Fox Television has given out a sizable put-pilot commitment for a television adapation of TRUE LIES, which is set to be penned by Marc Guggenheim (Arrow).

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Harry Tasker, a secret government agent, James Cameron's TRUE LIES finds Tasker leading a double life where he pretends to be a boring computer salesman in front of his friends and family. Jamie Lee Curtis also stars as Harry's wife, Helen, who is desperately seeking a more adventureous life. James Cameron is attached to the project as an executive producer, as is McG, who, should the script move forward, will also direct the pilot episode of the True Lies series. Said to be "a modern version of the story about how a suburban couple adjusts when one of them is revealed to be a spy," it's easy to see why the project would be a good fit for television; a little romance and a lot of action, all wrapped up in a globe-trotting adventure. Of course, it could just as easily go the other way.

As James Cameron is looking to be quite busy with the numerous AVATAR sequels, not to mention rebooting THE TERMINATOR with Tim Miller, I can't imagine that he'll have much input in the True Lies series, but the potential is nonetheless there for something fun. Let us know your thoughts on this potential True Lies series in the comments below!
