James Bond production designer Peter Lamont has died at the age of 91

It's not often that one person has a hand in shaping one of the biggest franchises in the world over the course of decades, but that's exactly what Peter Lamont did. The Oscar-winning production designer joined the James Bond franchise with Goldfinger and worked on every single film, with the exception of Tomorrow Never Dies, up until Casino Royale. Franchise producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced on Twitter that Peter Lamont has sadly passed away at the age of 91.

Peter Lamont joined the James Bond franchise as a draughtsman on Goldfinger before becoming production designer beginning with For Your Eyes Only. "He was a true success story proving that with talent and hard work you will achieve your dreams," said Wilson and Broccoli. In addition to his work on the James Bond franchise, Lamont also worked on films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Fiddler on the Roof, Top Secret!, Aliens, True Lies, Titanic, Wing Commander, and more. Lamont would receive Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction for his work on Fiddler on the Roof, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Aliens, before winning the award for Titanic. Wilson and Broccoli added, "Our hearts go out to his family and all those who worked with him over many years. He will be very sorely missed." Indeed you will, Mr Lamont.
