Jake Gyllenhaal reveals he’s reuniting on a new movie with Denis Villeneuve

Jake Gyllenhaal is setting up a reunion with director Denis Villeneuve. The actor, who previously worked with Villeneuve on 2013's PRISONERS and ENEMY, has revealed that he's working on a new film with the director of the upcoming DUNE.

In an interview with cinematographer Roger Deakins on the Team Deakins podcast, Gyllenhaal stated that “there is something we are working on now,” referring to himself and Villeneuve. While no information about the plot has been revealed, Villeneuve previously mentioned he wants to return to a smaller film after DUNE, and the successes of his other box office hits like ARRIVAL and BLADE RUNNER 2049. Perhaps a more intimate project for Gyllenhaal and Villeneuve could be in store, which would be a return to form for the director.

Gyllenhaal first worked with Villeneuve on the critically well-received PRISONERS, which had the actor playing a detective investigating a child abduction. The film also starred Hugh Jackman, Maria Bello, Viola Davis, Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard and Paul Dano. Gyllenhaal followed up that union with ENEMY, a film that saw a man seeking out his exact look-alike after spotting him in a movie.

I'm interested in seeing both Gyllenhaal and Villeneuve scale things back a bit after some of their most recent offerings and given their track record, a third collaboration could prove to be an exciting endeavor. What would YOU want to see Gyllenhaal and Villeneuve collaborate on next?
