For a while there, I felt fairly confident that THE DARK TOWER would reign supreme as 2017's best Stephen King project, after all, Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey headlining a potential franchise based upon King's much-celebrated series? It seemed like a no-brainer, but, when the dust settled, Andy Muschietti's IT wound up being the film to blow everyone away and it seems as though THE DARK TOWER has already been largely forgotten.
However, if you're looking to give THE DARK TOWER a second chance, or check it out for the first time, Sony Pictures has released a ten-minute clip to celebrate the movie's release on Digital HD. The sequence takes place early on in the film, when Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) first enters Mid-World and encounters Roland Deschain (Idris Elba). We also get to see the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) and his minions as they investigate Jake's entry into Mid-World.
The official synopsis for THE DARK TOWER:
There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.
THE DARK TOWER will be released on DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD on October 31st.
