Jaimie Alexander will play Lady Sif on an upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

As the ratings plummet on Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. series, ABC and Disney are using their secret weapon to try and boost viewership and will have an actor from the big screen movies guest on the small screen show. Marvel.com revealed earlier today that Jaimie Alexander will make an upcoming appearance on AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., repreising her role as Lady Sif from THOR: THE DARK WORLD.

While it was not announced which episode the actress will appear in, expect it to air sometime close to the release of THOR: THE DARK WORLD on Blu-ray. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. has been struggling with balancing an original show that focuses on the non-superhero side of the Marvel Universe with the desire for fans to see more of their comic book favorites in ongoing adventures between big screen outings. While guest stars like Bill Paxton and Stan Lee up the star power on the series, it still has not been enough to keep the ratings up.

Jaimie Alexander is a favorite on this site both due to her good looks and her physical fit for a superhero role. Many lobbied for Alexander to get the coveted Wonder Woman role that went to Gal Gadot. Despite more screen time in THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Alexander deserves a hell of a lot more exposure as Sif or another character. While this move has all the hallmarks of Marvel and ABC trying to save a sinking ship, I hope this is a sign of a way for them to find consistency between their two forums for Marvel storytelling.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays on ABC and THOR: THE DARK WORLD hits Blu-ray on February 25th.
