Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, directors of the deeply unsettling Austrian horror film GOODNIGHT MOMMY, are set to make their English-language debut with the Hammer Films / FilmNation Entertainment production THE LODGE… and like GOODNIGHT MOMMY, this film is about a motherly figure staying in an isolated location with two children. I hope for her sake that things don't go as badly at THE LODGE as they did in Franz and Fiala's previous film.
IT's Jaeden Lieberher is signed on to play one of the children here and will be co-starring with Riley Keough, Richard Armitage, and Lia McHugh.
Written by Franz, Fiala, and Sergio Casci from an idea by Casci, THE LODGE is aboutÂ
a soon-to-be-stepmom who is snowed in with her fiance's two children at a remote holiday village. Just as relations finally begin to thaw between the trio, strange and frightening events threaten to summon psychological demons from the woman's strict religious childhood.
THE LODGE is currently filming in Montreal and is definitely a project I will be keeping an eye on, since I was troubled by GOODNIGHT MOMMY. I look forward to seeing what Franz and Fiala have in store for viewers this time.
