Director David M. Rosenthal's remake of JACOB'S LADDER starring Michael Ealy and Jesse Williams will premiere on DISH exclusively this July, followed by a theatrical release in August. And today we have the new version's trailer for you guys to check out.
Truth be told, as much as I tend to defend horror movie remakes, I wasn't a fan of the original JACOB'S LADDER getting the remake treatment when I first heard about it. But now after seeing that trailer, this new version looks to be forging its own path through a personal hell and I have to say I'm down for the journey. You can go ahead and give the trailer a look-see below and then let us know what you think!
This new version which the MPAA has already slapped with an R-rating for "language, some violence, sexuality, and drug content" follows:
a man named Jacob Singer is finally getting his life back together after the death of his brother in Afghanistan. He has a beautiful wife, a newborn child, and a successful career as a surgeon in a VA hospital. When a stranger approaches him and tells him that his brother is actually alive and living in an underground shelter with other homeless vets, Jacob’s life starts to unravel. He begins hallucinating, starts to think he is being followed by violent attackers, and becomes paranoid about the truth of what really happened to his brother.
This new film hails from director David M. Rosenthal (THE PERFECT GUY) and screenwriters Jeff Buhler (MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, PET SEMATARY remake) and Sarah Thorp. The psychological horror remake stars Michael Ealy, Jesse Williams, Nicole Beharie, Karla Souza and Guy Burnet.
The original film was directed by Adrian Lyne (FATAL ATTRACTION) from a screenplay written by Bruce Joel Rubin (GHOST). Alan Marshall produced the movie which starred Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Peña, and Danny Aiello. TriStar Pictures unleashed the film into theaters back on November 2, 1990.
