Earlier this month, the Fox television series Sleepy Hollow shocked its viewers when it killed off one of its main characters in the third season finale. It remains to be seen if that show will be renewed for a fourth season, but if it is actress Nicole Beharie's time playing the character Abbie Mills is over. Beharie seems to be doing just fine moving on from Sleepy Hollow, though, as she has just signed on to co-star with Michael Ealy in director David M. Rosenthal's remake of Adrian Lyne's 1990 classic JACOB'S LADDER.
Also joining the cast is Grey's Anatomy's Jesse Williams (pictured below), who is said to have a major role in the film.
The original JACOB'S LADDER had the following synopsis:
After returning home from the Vietnam War, veteran Jacob Singer (Tim Robbins) struggles to maintain his sanity. Plagued by hallucinations and flashbacks, Singer rapidly falls apart as the world and people around him morph and twist into disturbing images. His girlfriend, Jezzie (Elizabeth Peña), and ex-wife, Sarah (Patricia Kalember), try to help, but to little avail. Even Singer's chiropractor friend, Louis (Danny Aiello), fails to reach him as he descends into madness.
This new take, scripted by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorp, is said to be
a modern day paranoid action thriller about two brothers.
It's tough to imagine how a remake could possibly hope to live up to the nightmarish trippiness of the original, but they're going to give it a try. The JACOB'S LADDER remake is expected to start filming next month.
