Amazon already released a teaser trailer for season 2 of Homecoming that peaked our interest but now the streamer has released the full official trailer for the new season and they're using "Jackie" (Janelle Monáe) to preview the newest mystery and what's to come in season 2.
The new trailer was released via Monáe's Instagram account as it appears her character has taken over her page to give us our first real look at the second season. Jackie comes to in a rowboat adrift a lake, with no memory of how she got there — or even who she is. Her ensuing search for identity will lead her into the heart of the Geist Group, the unconventional wellness company behind the Homecoming Initiative.
Homecoming season one, based on the podcast of the same name, followed Heidi Bergman (Julia Roberts), who was once a social worker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a live-in facility run by the Geist Group which is a facility used to help soldiers transition to civilian life. Four years later, Bergman has started a new life working as a waitress but has difficulty remembering her time at Homecoming. After a U.S. Department of Defense auditor inquires as to why she left Homecoming, Bergman comes to realize that she had been misled about the true purpose of the facility. Julia Roberts will not be appearing in season 2 but she is still on as an executive producer.
I actually really dug season one of Homecoming so I'm curious to see if they can keep up the momentum for season two. Janelle Monáe is a very capable actress and is sure to lead the show admirably in Julia Roberts' absence.
Are YOU all in for season two? Homecoming begins streaming its second season on May 22, 2020. Check out the new key art for season two below!
