Jackie Earle Haley is on fire right now. The word from Deadline is that the WATCHMAN star, who a couple of months ago we learned will star as Odin Quincannon on AMC's Preacher series, may join Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in Sony's THE DARK TOWER, and that he has also been added to the cast of Amazon's The Tick pilot.
Haley is in talks to play Sayre in the Stephen King adaptation, "a menacing humanoid who is the vampire leader and kowtows to no one." Production on the film, which also stars newcomer Tom Taylor, kicked off yesterday with A ROYAL AFFAIR director Nikolaj Arcel behind the camera.
As for The Tick, Haley will co-star opposite Peter Serafinowicz and Griffin Newman in the pilot as The Terror, "a powerful super villain and the leader of the evil league in the comics." Armin Shimerman portrayed the character in an episode of the original live-action FOX series, and he is described as "our world’s epitome of the criminal mastermind, a hooded ancient villain barking at his minions whose incredible will power and tenacity have powered an underworld syndicate for decades."
THE DARK TOWER is scheduled to open on February 17, 2017, however it hasn't been announced yet when The Tick will make its debut on Amazon.
