When news came down recently that BOARDWALK EMPIRE fan favorite Jack Huston was cast in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, the comments were fully in support of the talented Brit getting an even bigger role to showcase his acting chops. Rumors are now swirling that he may be in consideration for the lead in his biggest project to date: Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE.
This is Infamous cites sources that claim Huston is being considered for the title role and that Scott Derrickson and Kevin Feige are looking to lock someone in soon. Huston is young but has shown serious gravitas on both BOARDWALK EMPIRE and in small roles in films like AMERICAN HUSTLE. He would easily be able to pull of the role of the Sorceror Supreme if it were offered to him.
Marvel has had quite the laundry list of contenders for DOCTOR STRANGE ranging from Jon Hamm, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, and now Huston amongst others. All of these actors range in age, experience, and fame, but Huston would fit with the model that Marvel has gone with in casting their superheroes as he is the least known of the bunch. It remains to be seen who will be selected but stay tuned for the announcement in the near future.
DOCTOR STRANGE hits theaters on July 8, 2016.
