Jack Black to join Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in Jumanji remake

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

On Monday, Dwayne Johnson said that there would be several casting announcements for his upcoming remake of JUMANJI arriving throughout the week. Now, per The Wrap, the first one has arrived as it seems like Jack Black will be joining Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in the upcoming film. Johnson took to Instagram to welcome Jack Black to the project:

World loves Jack Black and so do I. Been a big fan of his work over the years. A brilliant actor who I'm confident will turn in a performance of a lifetime for JUMANJI. (when we reveal his character you'll understand;). In our reimagining of the story of JUMANJI, Jack brings that rare balance of cool with funny and edge with childlike joy.

Dwayne Johnson added that there are still two big roles left to cast: "one bad ass girl. One semi-sorta bad ass dude. Who will they be… this is gonna be fun." I imagine that we'll be hearing about those in the coming days. Sony is hoping to kick off production on the Jake Kasdan (BAD TEACHER) directed film in Hawaii this August. Johnson has previously said that they want to honor the late Robin Williams and hopes that his "character of Alan Parrish will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of JUMANJI in an earnest and cool way. I have an idea of what to do and I think his family will be proud."

JUMANJI is set for a July 28, 2017 release.
