Like any red-blooded kid growing up in the '90s, I f*cking loved me some JURASSIC PARK. I had the toys where you could create battle wounds on the dinosaurs, and even had an Ian Malcolm action figure (which is true). However, I have to say, I only really like the first JURASSIC PARK movie. And while JURASSIC WORLD had some inspired moments (the Dino-tag team at the end was fun), I ultimately didn't like it due to unlikable characters and mostly uninspired set-pieces.
Having said that I am actually looking forward to JURASSIC WORLD 2. With the "soft reboot" out of the way, as well as the character introductions, the sequel can finally dig into some uncharted territory, and possibly flesh out the characters. Not to mention that J.A. Bayona's A MONSTER CALLS was amazing.
Anyway, Bayona just sent a tweet, teasing the start of production on the film:
Man, I know it's not much, but everytime I see that dino-skeleton logo, I just start humming the theme song and feeling like a kid again. Let's hope this is the sequel that's finally worthwhile!
Either way, JURASSIC WORLD 2 will stomp into theaters June 22nd, 2018.
