Looks like the CW is canceling and casting aside horror TV shows like crazy. After all, we were just hit with the recent announcement that they were passing on DEAD INSIDE and the SUPERNATURAL spin-off series WAYWARD SISTERS. And as sad (I guess) as all of this news is, it's nothing new to the CW, who has passed on potentially killer horror shows in the past including TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE and FRIDAY THE 13TH.
And it looks like as much as the CW seems to like their zombie-comedy series iZOMBIE, the show's upcoming 5th season will be its last. Which is too bad (again, I guess). I never watched an episode of the series myself, but the few friends I have that have checked out an episode here and there weren't very impressed. But I have some pretentious, dickhead friends so take that with a grain of salty brains.
Series star Rose Iver took to Twitter to confirm the news the other day writing:
So the fifth season of #iZombie will be our last. I am therefore committed and excited to make it the best one yet! Really proud to be on a show that celebrates the misfits and I pinch myself every day that I get to be a part of the iZombie world with you guys. Thank you.
Based upon characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo, iZOMBIE follows:
Olivia “Liv” Moore (Rose McIver) was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible.
The show comes to us from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Danielle Stokdyk, and Dan Etheridge. There isn't currently any word of just when the fifth season of the series will premiere over on the CW. But that said, there is word around the campfire that the show will return during the midseason schedule shifts for the network.
We'll let you know when we hear more.
