Let’s just poll up front…if you had to choose, would you rather see a GHOSTBUSTERS sequel or remake? Or would you boycott the whole damn thing?!
Well, now that GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is all but kaput (right on Billy Murray), Ivan Reitman has taken to the next best thing – which is to say the next most lucrative thing – remaking GHOSTBUSTERS instead. Apparently he’s serious.
When pressed by Collider about the nature of sequels and remakes in general, Reitman had this to say:
“Well, I’d like to go forward and make new things. I think Ghostbusters probably should be remade, if we can get it all right. We’re working on it, so we’ll see.”
Probably? If? Sounds like a game of odds to me. Of course, you know where I stand…if a competent continuation of the characters couldn’t be done in 1989, why then would it 2012? And who wants to see a bunch of gap model next-geners as replacements? Really though?
To hell with what I think, it’s all about your demand. Is there still a hungry market for a new or rehashed GHOSTBUSTERS movie? Make a case either way below!
