Distributor Vital Pictures/NME have announced a March 6th limited theatrical release for their first film, a "suspenseful and socially-relevant original horror story" called BENEATH US.
The directorial debut of Max Pachman, who also wrote the screenplay with Mark Mavrothalasitis, the film stars Lynn Collins (pictured above in JOHN CARTER), James Tupper, Rigo Sanchez, Roberto ‘Sanz’ Sanchez, Thomas Chavira, and Josue Aguirre.
Featuring dialogue in both English and Spanish, BENEATH US has the following synopsis:
The American Dream becomes a nightmare for a group of undocumented day laborers hired by a wealthy couple (Collins and Tupper). What they hope to be their biggest payday turns into a terrifying fight for survival at the couple’s secluded mansion, and those thought to be helpless must prove they can’t be discarded so easily.
There have been a lot of "evil rich people" horror movies and thrillers released recently. This one sort of sounds like an attempt to make a GET OUT for the Latin community.
Vital Pictures/NME are aiming to get BENEATH US into theatres in "major Latino markets throughout the U.S." None of those markets were specified in the Deadline report. The film was produced by Luis Guerrero, Chris Lemos, Jay Hernandez, and William Knochel.
