After impressing audiences with his breakout role in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923, Deadline has reported that Brandon Sklenar is set to star in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, It Ends with Us.
Brandon Sklenar will star as Atlas Corrigan in It Ends with Us alongside Blake Lively as Lilly Bloom and Justin Baldoni as Ryle Kincaid. It Ends with Us was the top-selling print book of 2022, so it’s no surprise that a movie adaptation would follow. The story follows “Lilly Bloom, who comes from a complicated past and always has known the life she wants. While living in Boston, she meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid and believes she may very well have found her soulmate. Soon, however, questions arise about their relationship, and to complicate matters her high school love interest, Atlas Corrigan, comes back into the picture, putting her relationship with Ryle in jeopardy.“
The book was actually optioned in 2019 by Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, who have been working closely with the author Colleen Hoover to bring it to life. Baldoni will also direct the movie, which has been scripted by Christy Hall. Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni will executive produce, alongside Colleen Hoover, Steve Sarowitz, and Andrew Calof. It Ends with Us has been published in 43 foreign languages and has been on the New York Times Best Seller List for over 90 weeks. It has also exploded in popularity on TikTok, with more than 2 billion views on Hoover’s hashtag.
Brandon Skelnar plays Spencer Dutton in 1923, the nephew of Harrison Ford’s character. The Yellowstone prequel introduces a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren). The series explores the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, and the end of Prohibition all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home. A second season of the Paramount+ series is on the way.
Skelnar could have been associated with Harrison Ford even earlier as he was one of the many young actors who auditioned to play Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story. “When I showed up to that one, I was a little worse for wear,” Skelnar said, “and there were a couple-hundred guys there, if I remember correctly. It was a funny experience.“
Is Brandon Skelnar a good choice to play Atlas Corrigan in the It Ends with Us movie?
