It may have only been two years ago that audiences got to see the young Losers’ Club fight back against the demon clown Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard), but in next month’s sequel, we will see them return to finish the job after 27 years away from Derry. So much has changed for them in those years as they grew into haunted adults, and Warner Bros. has dropped a new featurette exploring their return to Derry, the growing up they still have to do, and the more vicious nature of the returning Pennywise.

“Tonally, the movie will feel just like the first one,” director Andres Muschietti says. “But we’ll crank up the horror aspects of it.”
Star Bill Hader, who plays an adult Richie Tozier (but wearing the exact same glasses, it seems), agrees that everything seems more ramped up here, with his fearless director pulling no punches. “Andy’s just gone for broke as far as scope and scares,” he says.

Some of the other stars — like James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and more — get a chance to talk about the movie and how it plays out just as much like a character-driven, coming-of-age story as it does a nightmare-inducing horror flick. We get to see some of these characters returning to the places they feared (the house on Neibolt Street), while also getting to re-experience the moments that defined their childhoods, like at the cliffside or McAvoy's Bill riding Silver once again.
On top of all that there's a ton of new footage here, some of which will pull on your heartstrings and recall some of the best non-horror moments of the first movie, and others that tease nothing but sleepless nights ahead. There's plenty of blood and twisted imagery in this featurette, and with about a month left to go there's still plenty more teases on the horizon.
IT: CHAPTER TWO is in theaters September 6.
