I'd like to think that most people, if they found an expensive looking purse on the subway, would make some effort to contact the owner and return it, but after watching the trailer for Neil Jordan's upcoming suspense thriller GRETA, you may find yourself changing your tune. When Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz) returns a handbag she found on the subway to Greta (Isabelle Huppert), the two quickly become good friends, but Frances soon discovers that nothing in Greta's life is quite what it seems and their relationship takes a twisted turn. GRETA premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year and received mostly positive reviews, with many critics singling out Isabelle Huppert for praise as the actress apparently goes full throttle into crazy-town. Bring it on!
The official synopsis for GRETA:
A sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz) doesn’t think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends — but Greta’s maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta’s life is what it seems in this suspense thriller from Academy Award®-winning director Neil Jordan.
