Isaac Asimov’s Foundation comes to life in first-look trailer for TV series

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" series is considered to be one of the greatest works of science-fiction, but those who have read the sprawling series can understand just why it's been so difficult for Hollywood to bring to it to life as either a feature-film or TV series. More than two years ago, Apple began developing a TV series based on Asimov's novels from David S. Goyer (THE DARK KNIGHT) and Josh Friedman (TERMINATOR: DARK FATE), and although production on the series was halted earlier this year due to COVID-19, Apple has released a trailer for the upcoming series which gives us a look at just how big the series will be.

Foundation chronicles the "thousand year saga of The Foundation, a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it." There's a hell of a lot more to it than that, but I'd need much more time than I have in order to fully dive into the incredibly dense story. The series stars Jared Harris as Hari Seldon; Lee Pace as Brother Day; Lou Llobell as Gaal; Leah Harvey as Salvor; Laura Birn as Demerzel; Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk; and Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn.

Foundation is expected to debut on Apple TV+ in 2021.
