Is this our first good look at Tom Hardy as Mad Max?

This is rumor control, here are the facts: below you will find a blurry, bootleg looking autographed snapshot of Tom Hardy as “Mad” Max Rockatansky from MAD MAX: FURY ROAD.

However, you may want to approach it with suspsicion, as it raises several questions of authenticity. First, why would Hardy autograph a still that, for all intents and purposes, hasn’t existed on the internet or in print otherwise? Second, how did the person in question get a hold of it in the first place? Finally, an old USA Today interview had Hardy announce he was growing a beard for his take on Max, hence the epic facial hair he’s been sporting on the red carpet for much of the year. There’s no neck beard to be seen here…

On the flip side, it’s entirely likely (if not a guarantee) that the character shaves his beard at some point in the film. Also, the jacket appears to be the iconic design worn by Mel Gibson in the previous films. If this does turn out to be the new Mad Max, I think we can all give Hardy the thumbs up. UPDATE: Hardy has no beard on this Mad Max on set pic. So maybe he doesn’t pimp the beard for the whole of the movie.
