Like a lot of you, I was overly excited by the news that Showtime was teaming with David Lynch and Mark Frost to bring us a return to "Twin Peaks", one of the greatest television shows of all time. As our own Jimmy O pointed out, our love for this wildly imaginative series still burns bright and we're more than just a little stoked about a return to this little town hiding a ton of dark secrets… and damn good coffee! But now there may be some serious doubt on whether or not Showtime's "Twin Peaks" will happen as some worrisome news has come down from David Lynch himself.
Welcome to Twin Peaks is sharing that there may be trouble in "Twin Peaks" as Lynch has raised doubts about the widely announced return of the show on Showtime in 2016. During a sold out Q&A event and conversation with David Strattan at QPAC, the director and artist was asked whether “Twin Peaks was definitely happening.” David Lynch responded with the troublesome…
“I don’t know. There are complications.”
The show’s co-creator and director added it’s not a funding issue, but Welcome to Twin Peaks has learned that while the scripts are finished after nearly four years in the making, contract negotiations aren’t going as expected.
Lynch also appeared on ABCNews 24 culture show The Mix, where he elaborated…
“I haven’t returned yet and we’re still working on the contract, but I love the world of Twin Peaks and I love those characters. And I think it will be very special to go back into that world.”
So don't give up hope yet! Lynch obviously wants this to happen and Showtime should give him and Frost anything they need to make a return to "Twin Peaks" a reality. Laura Palmer promised to see us again in 25 years. I want her to make good on that.
More on "Twin Peaks" as we hear it.
