It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Irwin Keyes, perhaps best known for his role on The Jeffersons as George Jefferson's burly bodyguard, but well-remembered in our community as Ravelli in HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES among other roles, including THE EXTERMINATOR, HERE COME THE MUNSTERS, DAHMER VS. GACY, BLACK DYNAMITE, and (for those sharp-eyed fans out there) an uncredited role as a busboy in 1980's FRIDAY THE 13TH. He was even up for the iconic role of Freddy Krueger in A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.
The news comes from Keyes' family member Rene Galarza, who wrote the following message on his Facebook page:
It’s with deep sympathy that I’m writing this post. Early this morning my family was informed that our beloved uncle, brother, teammate and friend, Irwin Keyes has had his last curtain call. He is now an angel for us all and will be watching down. Our family wishes to thank all of you who have been a part of his life. He will be missed very much.
Keyes was 63 years old. Our condolences go out to his friends, family, and fans. May he rest in peace.
