Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce to script Mission: Impossible 5

Screenwriter Drew Pearce is basking in the sweet glow of success with IRON MAN 3, which he wrote with Shane Black, and is now stepping even further into the limelight with another franchise. Paramount has tapped Pearce to write the fifth installment of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise, which has yet to secure a director (although Christopher McQuarrie is still thought to be circling the gig).

Pearce got his start on a British superhero show called No Heroics, which led to a adapting Marvel's unfilmed RUNAWAYS pic. That gig led to IRON MAN 3, which has seemingly launched the writer into the mainstay of Hollywood. Pearce has since done polishes on Guillermo Del Toro's PACIFIC RIM, GODZILLA, and a third SHERLOCK HOLMES film. Aside from that, he's also got several original projects in the works, such as the action-comedy SECRETARIES' DAY, the Jason Segal comedy THE OTHER F WORD and another superhero pic, called THE MIGHTY.

Naturally, Pearce is also working on an original project for his directorial debut. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5 is slated to shoot this fall with a release date TBD.
