Jessica Henwick played Colleen Wing on Iron Fist, The Defenders, and Luke Cage, and although those series are no more, it seems that Henwick will soon be heading back to the big-screen. THR has reported that the actress is set to star alongside Dylan O'Brien (AMERICAN ASSASSIN) and Michael Rooker (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2) in MONSTER PROBLEMS.
Written by Brian Duffield (JANE GOT A GUN) and Matthew Robinson (THE INVENTION OF LYING) and directed by Michael Matthews (FIVE FINGERS FOR MARSEILLES), the upcoming sci-fi/romance is a coming-of-age story following a young man (O'Brien) named Joel Dawson who lives in a post-apocalyptic world which has been overun by monsters. Joel sets out across the hostile environment in order to find the girl of his dreams. Jessica Henwick will play that girl, who "has a lot more going on than what initially is seen." Michael Rooker will play Clyde, an expert hunter who teaches Joel how to survive the monster apocalypse. When producer Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) first boarded the project in 2012, it was described as a "a post-apocalyptic road movie in the vein of Mad Max and Zombieland with a John Hughes-esque love story at its center." The potential franchise starter is currently in the early stages of production in Australia.
This won't be Jessica Henwick's only experience with monsters on the big-screen, as she's also part of the ensemble cast of Adam Wingard's GODZILLA VS. KONG, which is slated to hit theaters on March 13, 2020.
