The survival thriller Into the Deep premiered on Sky TV in the UK last month, and now Lionsgate is preparing to bring the film to the US with a VOD and limited theatrical release on August 26th. In anticipation of that release date, Lionsgate has dropped a trailer for Into the Deep online, and you can watch it in the embed above. The film will also be receiving a DVD and Blu-ray release on October 4th, and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders at THIS LINK.

Into the Deep marks the feature directorial debut of Kate Cox, who was working from a screenplay by David Beton (The Banishing). The story Beton crafted begins when

Jess is swept off her feet by a mysterious stranger named Ben, who takes her to his boat that’s docked nearby. Dangerously adrift miles from shore, their romance is interrupted when Lexie shows up, and soon the three get wasted and play sexy games. When the party takes a sudden turn for the worse, it’s clear that either Ben or Lexie is a dangerous liar. In the explosive climax, Jess must decide which one to help… and which one to destroy.

The film stars Ella-Rae Smith (Seance), Jessica Alexander (A Banquet), Matthew Daddario (Shadowhunters), Nikkita Chadha (Never Kiss Your Best Friend), Jack Morris (C.B. Strike), Andrew Steele (Free Rein), and Michael Workeye (This Is Going to Hurt).

As the trailer notes, Into the Deep comes to us from the producers of 47 Meters Down and Fall, and it looks like this is another interesting contained space thriller. The trailer is somewhat reminiscent of Dead Calm at times as well, although the story is quite different.
