The second season of the Hulu and Blumhouse anthology series Into the Dark was cut short due to the pandemic. The idea behind the show is that it consists of feature films released on a monthly basis, with each film in the series having something to do with a holiday or special date that occurs in the month of its release. The first season played out over an entire year, twelve films released over twelve months, and season 2 was supposed to do the same… but only ten films made it into production. Thankfully, that wasn't the end of Into the Dark for good.
It has been announced that a new film in the Into the Dark series is scheduled to be released through the Hulu streaming service on February 12th. Fittingly, it's "anchored to Valentine's Day".
Directed by Clara Aranovich from a script by Alexandra Pechman (who crafted the story with Nick Antosca), the film is titled Tentacles. Described as a "psychosexual horror-thriller", it centers on
couple Tara and Sam, who fall head over heels into a new romance and entwine their lives — until their intimacy transforms into something terrifying. Tentacles is said to take inspiration from “the rushes of early intimacy and uncertain power dynamics at play, and the dangers of losing yourself,” and it will also present “a twist on gender roles in modern horror.”
Dana Drori and Casey Deidrick play Tara and Sam, and they're joined in the cast by Evan Williams and Kasey Elise.
Tentacles was "produced under new health and safety guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic". Aranovich and Antosca executive produced the film with Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Marci Wiseman, Alexander Koehne, Lauren Downey, Alex Hedlund, and John Hegeman.
I'm a fan of Into the Dark, so I'm glad to hear that it will be continuing. A first look image of Drori in Tentacles can be seen below:
