Interviews: Toby Kebbell, Lauren Ambrose, and Nell Tiger Free on the intense final season of Servant

Servant was not the first AppleTV+ series to premiere, nor is it the first to finish its run. But M. Night Shyamalan’s paranoid thriller is the most consistent of any streaming series. What started as a Rosemary’s Baby-esque thriller developed into a supernatural horror story full of cults, witches, dead bodies, and all sorts of delusions and jump scares. But Servant is also more than just another scary story. Set primarily around a single home in Philadelphia, the scope has slightly expanded over the series, but it has firmly focused on the Turner family and their nanny, Leanne.

The final season of Servant, again shepherded by M. Night Shyamalan, brings the story of the Turners to a close with a powerful premiere episode that sets the tone and structure for the closing chapters of the tale. With the promise of answers as to who Leanne is and how she got her powers, why she has brought Jericho back to life for Dorothy and Sean, and whether the main characters will survive, we have just weeks to enjoy this series before it departs the airwaves.

I got to chat about the final season with three of the series stars as they reflected on the show’s journey. Lauren Ambrose talked about the shift in her character over the four seasons with a concerted focus on Misery this year. Toby Kebbell looked back at Sean’s journey from supporting Dorothy initially to finding his voice as the series wraps. Nell Tiger Free talked about that intense opening episode and how much Leanne has grown over the series. You can check out the full interviews in the embed above.

Servant‘s final season premieres on January 13th on AppleTV+.
